A fukusa featuring two embroidered flying cranes on an unusually-fine silk background. See detail images to see the very fine embroidery and metallic couching. Early fukusa such as this example often had at their corners a wispy clutch of threads; later fukusa instead had intricately-tied cords or tassels of many kinds. Very good condition, with slight fraying on some of black embroidery, as well as some deterioration about the backside lining. 23" x 24"
